Commissioned
Research

Operational Clarity undertakes commissioned independent research for organisations that need an evidence-based understanding of the software and AI systems they rely upon.

Organisations often depend on software and AI capabilities without a complete picture of what those systems can do, how they connect to other services, or how difficult they would be to replace. Operational Clarity provides independent research to help organisations examine those questions before making consequential decisions.

Each engagement produces a written assessment setting out the findings, supporting evidence, material dependencies, limitations and questions that remain unresolved. The format and depth are agreed before work begins.

Commissioned work follows the same methodology as published Operational Clarity research. It is not limited to vendors already covered by SoftTech Reviews or the SoftTech AI Registry. Where a vendor is already covered, that published research is a starting point; where it is not, research is carried out from documentary sources.

Section 03 — Standards

Engagement Standards

Every commissioned engagement includes:

01

A defined, written scope

02

A stated research cut-off date

03

Documented sources

04

Stated evidence limitations

05

Agreed deliverables

What commissioned work does not do

Commissioned work does not provide certification, endorsement, privileged vendor access, penetration testing or continuous monitoring. Research into documented vendor capabilities is separate from examining an organisation's own implementation. Any review of client-supplied configuration evidence must be explicitly agreed and its verification limitations stated.

Editorial independence

Paying for research cannot buy favourable findings or changes to published research conclusions. Commissioned reports are treated as confidential under the agreed engagement terms. Published research remains independent of commercial engagements.

Engagements are individually scoped and quoted. Fees are agreed before work begins.

Section 04 — Enquiry

Make an Enquiry

Tell us briefly what you need to understand. Scope, feasibility and evidence availability are discussed before any work is agreed.

Please do not include passwords, credentials, system diagrams or sensitive technical evidence. Evidence is requested only after scoping, through a channel agreed with you.
